Banned Berekum Chelsea have temporarily withdrawn from the ongoing NC special competition following the their temporal ban from using the Berekum Golden City park for their matches as a result of the violence that broke out during their match against Asante Kotoko on Sunday.
The interim Ghana football administration body on Monday issued a statement , “The Normalization Committee of the Ghana Football Association has ordered a TEMPORARY BAN on Berekum Chelsea FC from using the Berekum Golden City Park as its home venue with immediate effect”, the statement read .
“This decision has become necessary due to the unfortunate incident that occurred during Match Day Eight between Berekum Chelsea FC and Asante Kotoko SC played on Sunday, 28th April, 2019”, the statement continued.
Following the above release, the Berekum based club has taken to their official facebook account to announce their decision to withdraw from the competition temporarily.
“We will like to inform our followers that, due to the unfortunate incident that happened yesterday at the Golden City Park during our game with Asante Kotoko of which a communique has been sent indicating a temporary ban on Golden City Park by the Ghana Football Association Normalization Committee:
We have dissolved our players and have temporarily withdrawn from the NC Special Competition”, Berekum Chelsea wrote via the club’s official facebook page.
Should Chelsea decide to make their decision permanent, Asante Kotoko will lose all 4 points they accumulated from their two matches with the former in the competion and eventually drop from the summit of the league table to 3rd place with their 14 points reduced to 10, and Aduana Stars who picked all 3 points against them will have their current 9 points reduced to 6.
