Two times Africa champions Ivory Coast were put to the sword by minnows Namibia, ranked 113th by FIFA before waking from their slumber to win 4-1 to reach the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations on Monday.
The Elephants were put in front by Max-Alain Gradel at the 39th minute before the break but goals from Geoffroy Serey DieGeoffroy, Wilfried Zaha and Maxwell Cornet were enough to over power the Brave Warriors. Namibia pulled one back through Joslyn Kamatuka, who pounced on a mistake by goalkeeper Sylvain Gbohou to give the Namibian fans something to smile about.
The win ensured that Ivory coast finished second in group D with six points from three games, leaving Namibia bottom of the table after losing all three games to say goodbye to the tournament at the group stages.
Morocco finished top of the group with nine points, winning their last group game 1-0 over one-time champions South Africa who finished third with three points.
