Accra Hearts of diehard fan Alhaji Sherif, famously known as Shefphobia has hailed the quality of the club’s newly unveiled Umbro kits, describing the texture as incomparable to that of any other club in the domestic league, likening it to that of English side Chelsea FC.
Shefphobia, Western Regional Chapters Committee (RCC) organizer and a member of Hearts of Oak’s supporters wing in Takoradi, Chapter 13, shocked everyone when he purchased the club’s new Umbro kit at a cost of GHC1,000 at the unveiling ceremony held at the Accra Sports stadium media centre six days ago.
The staunch phobian, whose contributions to the club has been enormously superb for years, told Fox FM that his obvious love for the club and burning desire to appreciate management’s move to raise the status of the club to international standard inspired him to pay such a huge and historic amount for just a piece of the club’s appealing jersey.
Describing the quality of the jersey, Sherif noted that the quality of the texture cannot be compared to any other club’s jersey in the domestic league, and as a recognized Chelsea fan, he can only compare Hearts of Oak’s kits to that of the London based club.
“The jersey is a type that if you have followed clubs for long in Ghana here, I don’t think you can say you’ve ever got hold of a jersey of this quality before”, Shefphobia told Fox FM in an interview. “I have every jersey of Hearts of Oak because I usually buy both the home and away kits, I have compared the qualities and realized this (Umbro one) is exceptional but I don’t know how to describe the jersey in terms of quality because it is extraordinary”, he noted.
Despite having Hearts of Oak DNA, Shefphobia is also a registered Chelsea fan and he believes the quality of the new Hearts of Oak Umbro jerseys can only best be likened to that of Chelsea FC.
“I’m also a Chelsea fan and I buy their jerseys online, but I think the Hearts of Oak jersey if I compare it to any other jersey in Ghana here it’s not possible, I can only compare it to the Chelsea jerseys which I buy from them direct, for that I think I can believe it, the texture is such that you don’t even feel it on your body, it doesn’t get excessively wet with sweat, it’s very nice and if I want to describe how it is I wouldn’t get the right words to do it”, he proudly told Stephen Tetteh in an interview with Fox FM.
According to the Chapter 13 organizer, the Hearts of Oak new Umbro kits can even be worn to church and weddings and entreated all Hearts of Oak fans to grab a piece and “you’ll be proud of it”.
Sherif further made a passionate appeal to the phobian fraternity to follow the steps of the club’s leadership who have taken the club to international standard and patronize the jerseys and contribute in every possible means within their powers to help the club maintain and improve its status a big brand in African football and beyond.
