Former Techiman Eleven Wonders CEO and outspoken football administrator Takyi Arhin popularly known as Thunder for his stern comments, has accused the president of the Normalization Committee (NC) in charge of interim administration of Ghana football, Dr. Kofi Amoah of bribing football people with huge sum of dollars to buy their silence and kick against calls for Congress.
According to Thunder, Dr. Kofi Amoah paid some football officials a total sum of $3750 each to buy their conscience and influenced them to reject any call by other football clubs for immediate Congress to pave way for elections of new GFA president.
Dr. Kofi Amoah was with the Black Stars during their Africa Cup of Nations when the Stars were eliminated at the round of 16 by Tunisia, and many Ghanaians feel the NC has failed woefully in administering football in the country, calling on them to immediately organize Congress and provide the road map for elections to be conducted to elect new president for the Ghana Football Administration.
Thunder claims the NC president bribed the football officials who made it to Egypt to hire some journalists to enable them kick against any call for Congress to be held so that the NC can continue in office beyond their current mandate which ends by September 30.
“Dr. Kofi Amoah and some football people met in Egypt and this was what they plotted; he gave everyone $3750, what they plotted was that if we return (to Ghana) the football people will say we should go to Congress, but I will plead with you to get some media men and agree with them, we will give them money so they kick against it, because if we go to Congress our mandate will come to an end”, Takyi Arhin alleged, speaking to Fox FM on Focal Sports.
The Normalization Committee on Monday invited all the clubs through the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) for a meeting scheduled for tomorrow, July 17, but Thunder has urged the clubs not to attend unless for Congress. He further insisted that he is suspicious of the integrity of the GHALCA Chairman Cudjoe Fianoo as he suspects him of being bought by the NC to support the alleged call against Congress. He described the NC’s invitation letter as bogus and fraudulent.
“As a human being if you think evil then your conscience becomes little, so the letter they (NC) wrote to invite the clubs look at where they sent the letter, to the GHALCA Chairman, a person who even have my suspicions about him”, Thunder continued. “I’ve been talking about the GHALCA leadership about three months ago and what I said has come to pass today, if you are leading an institution and decide to follow your stomach and what you will eat to the detriment of the whole public, posterity will judge you”, he said.
Thunder further insisted that nobody will attend the NC’s meeting unless by the wife and children of Dr. Kofi Amoah.
“That letter they’ve written calling for meeting with the clubs i’m telling you, unless Kofi Amoah and his wife and children will do that meeting, nobody is attending that meeting, we are not fools, all that we are waiting for is the road map (for elections) and the Congress we will attend to readjust our football. GHALCA Chairman cannot invite a single football administrator for now, so that meeting for tomorrow, the letter is dead at arrival, so bogus and fraudulent and we cannot attend that meeting”, he fumed.
