Asante Kotoko striker Sogne Yacouba’s agent, Gyasi Jantuah has stated emphatically that his client does not have what it takes to terminate his contract with Kotoko unless the club, upon receipt of a satisfactory offer for the player, decides to release him.
Jantuah was accused of saying his client is due to terminate his contract with the record Ghana league winners, but the agent insists that terminating the contract is not within the jurisdiction of his client while stating that he used the word “terminate” in an off-air and off-the-record conversation with a media man, but he actually meant to say his client wants to “finish” his contract with Kotoko.
“It was a wrong word and if the guy had taken our conversation in a context, taking the conversation as a whole he would see I didn’t mean that, it was to say end of contract, not termination of contract, never”, Jantuah told Fox FM.
In his view, Yacouba is not in a position to terminate his contract with Asante Kotoko unless the club receives a convincing offer for him of which they want to release him on mutual agreement, but as at now nothing of that sort has is in place.
“He can’t terminate his contract, how can he terminate his contract? If Kotoko does not terminate it in what way can he terminate it, he can’t terminate unless a team brings an offer and maybe he says he wants to leave and Kotoko agrees to let him leave, in that way Kotoko can terminate his contract but it’s not like that”, Juantuah insisted.
Sogne Yacouba is yet to report to training since the club begun preparations for the CAF Champions League campaign, and he is expected to arrive before or on Friday.
