Agent of Asante Kotoko talisman Sogne Yacouba, Gyasi Jantuah has clarified his “off-air” comment on his client’s contract with Kotoko, where he was quoted to have said his client will arrive to ”terminate” his contract with the Porcupine Warriors, admitting to the usage of the word but in the wrong context.
Jantuah had a “normal” of-the-record telephone conversation with a sports programmes producer of a radio station in Kumasi concerning Yacouba’s contract with Kotoko, where he said his client will soon be back to “terminate” his contract with Kotoko. According to Jantuah, a self-confessed Asante Kotoko fan, he used the word terminate but in actual sense, he meant to use the word “finish” and that the incident was mere wrong choice of word in expressing himself.
“If you listened to it carefully, I meant to say he wants to finish his contract with Kotoko, that was where I used the word “terminate” his contract with Kotoko”, Jantuah told Focal Sports on Tuesday. “We were having a conversation, normal conversation talking about Yacouba then I said, the lad loves Kotoko, every time that’s how we create stories against him but he wants to finish his contract with Kotoko, I even continued to say he might have a change of mind and renew his contract with Kotoko and that would excite me”, he clarified.
The Ghanaian player-agent further confessed he’s a Kotoko fan and would love to see his client play for Kotoko throughout his career and that the word terminate which accidentally emerged in their conversation instead of “finish” was wrongly chosen and that, publishing that angle to pitch him against Kotoko and the fans was a “wicked” act.
“I’m a pure Kotoko fan and every player I brought I give him to Asante Kotoko, I would like Yacouba to finish all his football with Kotoko, but maybe due to pressure from his father and co, but he loves Kotoko and he even wants to see out his contract and see the way forward, that was what I said, but the word terminate which I said instead finish is what he has wickedly used against me and his boss has even apologized to me. It’s a wrong choice of word which I used, instead of saying finish, he wants to finish his contract at the end of his contract then I (mistakenly) used terminate”, he clarified.
Asante Kotoko have been struggling to renew Yacouba’s contract due to the club’s failure to reach a mutual agreement with the player who has been sidelined for months due to injury. Yacouba is now fit and is expected to join the club’s training this week when he arrives on Friday, the latest.
