Kofi Manu (Blue Boy) has confirmed to Fox FM sports desk that CK Akonnor, former coach of of Asante Kotoko have agreed with the club to settle their differences out of the Player-Coach Statutes Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Akonnor had dragged Kotoko to the Statutes Committee allegedly breaching his contract with the club as head coach, when the club chose to reassign him to Technical Directorate role against his will. The two parties were set to battle it out for justice at the FA Statutes Committee as Akonnor seeks for a severance package from the club.
On Thursday, both parties appeared before the Statutes Committee and asked for two weeks postponement to complete a move for out of the committee settlement. Speaking to Fox FM on Rush Hour sports on Thursday, Kofi Manu (Blue Boy), who is representing Kotoko as a defendant to the case, has confirmed that both parties have agreed to settle the matter at home.
“They both met and it’s like CK doesn’t want to have any problem with Kotoko so he feels it will be better solved at home”, Kofi Manu confirmed.
According Kofi Manu, the lawyer of CK, Prosper Yaw Ntow is of the view that his client had no bad relationship with Kotoko during his stint with the club and for that matter, dragging the issue before the GFA Statutes Committee wouldn’t be in the best interest of both parties.
“His lawyer says he feels CK didn’t have any conflict with Kotoko and so if an idea has immerged that the case be settled at home it’s good, so we will settle it at home. So the Committee called me and I told them that there is a move to settle the case out of the Committee so they should give us about two weeks becauase next week Thursday we will go for Congress – refereeing the the GFA Extra Ordinary Congress on September 5, so we can’t meet so the following week Thursday, by that time everyone will come to an understanding and we would have ironed out every little things there is to be settled”, Kofi Manu stressed.
The Statutes Committee has asked both Kotoko and CK Akonnor’s representatives to the case to put any agreement both parties would reach out of the Committee on paper and submit to the Committee so it can use that to form basis of its final ruling.
