The Black Queens of Ghana have sealed qualification to the third round of the 2020 CAF Olympic Women qualifiers after clamping Gabon 2-0 in to second leg in Accra to complete a 5-0 aggregate win over the two legs.
Skipper Portia Boakye grabbed the opener for the Queens in the 16th minute of the first half to announce the intent of coach Mercy Tagoe Quarcoo’s side and Juliet Acheampong added the second with a superb finish in the 70th minute.
The Black Queens have failed to qualify for the Olympic Games since its inception in the year 2000 and coach Mercy Tagoe’s ultimate target is to rewrite the story of the Queens by qualifying the team to Tokyo 2020.
The Queens will now face the female senior national side of Kenya on September 30 in the third round of the qualifiers.
