Renowned sports journalist Richmond Opoku Afriyie has been appointed Media Officer for the Black Stars B team ahead of the teams CHAN qualifier against Burkina Faso before its participation in the upcoming WAFU tournament in Senegal.
The award winning journalist, known for his endless passion for the promotion and development of local football, has been driven deeper into the administration of the game to exploit his in depth know how of the game of football to project the activities of the Black Stars B team currently coached by former Asante Kotoko coach, Maxwell Konadu.
Opoku Afriyie, popularly known as P-kay in the media, has been the Chief Executive Officer for division one football club Unity FC based in Kenyase, and have served in several ways in promoting local football ahead of foreign contents.
The Fox FM’s Rush Hour sports show host has assumed office after his appointment was confirmed on Thursday, 19th September, 2019. He will be in charge of all media interactions on issues relating to the Black Stars B, where he is assigned to grant media interviews on behalf of the team, and to update all soccer loving fans and Ghanaians at large on developments from the camp of the team.
The Black Stars B are scheduled to play against Burkina Faso in the final qualifying round of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament first leg at the Baba Yara sports stadium on Sunday, 22nd September, 2019.
The team will represent Ghana in the 2019 WAFU tournament to be staged in Senegal as the defending champions, facing Gambia on September 28.
