Black Queens captain Elizabeth has expressed excitement over her achievement with Chinese Women Super League side Jiangsu Sunning, having powered them to their first ever league title.
Elizabeth Addo, Ama-Pele as she is affectionately called among her teammates, joined the Chinese side in April 2019, and has since be in superb form, helping her side grind convincing reports against opponents in the CWSL for the 2019 league season.
The Ghana Black Queens star forward and skipper netted twice in the league match between her side Jiangsu Sunning and Guangdong in a commanding 5-1 victory to secure the league title with two matches to spare.
Elizabeth Addo’s Jiangsu Sunning were crowned champions of the 2019 Chinese Women’s League season for the first time in the club’s history thanks to the blistering form of the Ghanaian female version of the legendary Brazilian “Pele”, and she is extremely proud to have been an integral part of the history.
“I thank God to be part of the history, this is the first time the club has won the league and I’m very happy to be part of the history”, Elizabeth told reporters.
Jiangsu Sunning like the other clubs of the Chinese Women’s League, played a total of 14 matches in the league to win and Addo reflects on the difficulties they encountered enroute to winning the trophy.
According to the former Rivers Angels F.C, Seattle Reign FC star striker, the toughest opponent she faced enroute to the league title was the then defending champions of the league,Dalian Quanjiang FC who finished 8th in the current campaign.
“The battle wasn’t easy at all, from day one till the end, from all the matches played, home and away, mid week fixtures and the rest, it wasn’t easy but we thank God for a successful end”, Elizabeth said. Talking about which side was the toughest opponent, I will say all of them (the clubs) were but I think Dalian, Daliang was the most stubborn side, they finished bottom of the table though but it was very difficult playing against them, all the side were difficult but it the team that gave us tough, tough opposition was Dalian [Quanjiang]”, she admitted.
Elizabeth Addo arrived in Ghana on Tuesday in Accra where she’s taking a well deserving rest after hard work throughout the season and will spend the holidays home after her side were given an end of season break.
