Ghana Football Association presidential aspirant, Wilfred Osei Palmer, who was disqualified by the Vetting Committee after vetting, has successfully filed an appeal against his disqualification ahead of the October 25 elections.
Palmer, bank roller of Ghana premier league side Tema Youth Football Club was disqualified from the presidential race after the Vetting Committee claimed he had breached Article 33 (5) (c) of the GFA General Regulations which requires football clubs to pay a total of 10% of player transfer fees to the FA and the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA).
Another basis for his disqualification as referenced by the Vetting Committee was the “Decision of the Ethics Committee dated 13th December, 2017” regarding comments made by Palmer on the Black Stars failure to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals in Russia, which, per the ruling of the Ethics Committee, was deemed “unfortunate” and “inappropriate”.
Osei Palmer, who was ordered by the Ethics Committee to apologize for his comments which he through writing, has since denied any wrongdoing, hence his decision to appeal against his disqualification.
” We have successfully filed an appeal against the Elections committee’s decision to disqualify Osei Palmer from the GFA presidential election race. We once again urge our supporters to remain calm as we await the decision of the appeals committee”, Palmer noted on his social media account.
The 2019 GFA elections has been scheduled for Friday, 25 October, 2019 in Accra.
