Asante Kotoko have sacked Norwegian coach Kjetil Zachariassen as head coach of the club after just four months in charge of the club.
The Porcupine Warriors appointed the Norwegian in July to replace CK Akonnor as coach of the club and was tasked him to guide the club to at least the group stage of the CAF Champions League which CK had qualified the team for before his unexpected departure.
Officials of Kotoko met with the former Ashantigold trainer with his agent Charles Kouadio on Tuesday to strike an agreement that will see both parties part ways mutually. The meeting however came to an abrupt end after coach Zachariassen and his agent walked out over disagreement on his compensation package.
On Wednesday, the management of Asante Kotoko released a letter, signed by the Chief Executive Officer of the club, George Amoako announcing the dismissal of the Norwegian coach, citing his inability to meet “performance targets” set for him.
Zachariassen joined the club four months ago on a three-year contract and is set to receive his outstanding salary for the month of October and Kotoko would be done with him.
