Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Theophilus Nyame is set to make a sensational return to the club after leaving the club in 2017.
The former Sekondi Hasaacas, Medeama SC midfielder joined the Porcupine Warriors in 2016 from Hasaacas but could not last in the red jersey after failing to get much playing time and was subsequently released after a season along with other players like Samuel Kyere and others.
Nyame joined Medeama SC after leaving Asante Kotoko and was loaned to Ashantigold SC where he spent the 2017 league season. The midfield enforcer returned to Medeama for the start of the 2018 domestic league season which was truncated after 15 weeks, thanks to the famous Number 12 documentary by Tiger Eye PI which reveals loads of alleged corrupt practices by several referees and football administrators, which led to the resignation of the then GFA President, Kwasi Nyantakyi.
The mercurial Nyame then traveled to South Africa where south to continue his career in the PSL but had to return home after an unsuccessful trial stint with PSL side Bidvest Wits. He returned to Medeama in 2018 but in October 2018, the Yellow and Mauves announced they had parted ways with the midfielder, making him a free agent till date.
Ahead of the 2019/2020 Ghana premier league season which has been scheduled to start on December 21, Theophilus Nyame has started training with Asante Kotoko since Wednesday and is set to rejoin the club for the coming season.
Nyame begun his career with a lower division side Future Stars and later moved to 1960 premier league champions Sekondi XI Wise where he played under coach CK Akonnor, moved to Tarkwa United before returning to Sekondi Takoradi where he played and shined for Sekondi Hasaacas in 2014 under the then coach Kobina Amissah.
Asante Kotoko may offer him a contract for the 2019/2020 league season should he impress the technical handlers of the club led by care taking coach Johnson Smith.
