Medeama SC leading scorer in the premier league Prince Opoku Agyemang has been ruled out of their premier league week 8 home match against Bechem United through suspension.
The sharp shooting striker has picked three yellow cards in the premier league campaign so far, and has been automatically suspended in the club’s next league match at home against Bechem United on Wednesday.
Prince Opoku is contending for the crown of top scorer of the league for the 2019/2020 season, but will have to beat off competition from Aduana Stars’ Yahaya Mohammed who currently lead the top scorers chart with 7 goals.
Opoku Agyemang is Medeama’s leading scorer in the league with 5 goals in 7 matches, and looks forward to find the net against Bechem United on Wednesday in match day 8 of the current campaign, but his dreams have been brought to a halt. The former Hearts of Lions, New Edubiase star has expressed his worry over the suspension, speaking to Stephen Tetteh of foxfmonline.com in an exclusive interview.
“It pains me I will miss our next home game (against Bechem United), I have missed that match because I have three yellow cards”, Opoku told foxfmonline.com.
Opoku Agyemang, usually called ‘Abedi’ by his fans, has his eyes set on winning the goal king at the end of the season and believes that will enhance his footballing Curriculum Vitae.
“For my chances of winning the goal king I only pray to God to give me strength and have injury free season so we look at how it will go, because for the goal king I’m really focused on it because if I get that title I will be happy and it will enhance my CV”, he said.
With five goals already, the former New Edubiase United skipper says he is ever ready to challenge Yahaya Mohammed who leads with 7 goals on the top scorers chart, saying that plays an integral role in earning a national team call up.
“It is part of the reasons why you sometimes get a national team call up, so I’m determined to challenge Yahaya Mohammed that with his 7 goals, he is ahead though but his is not done yet, I’m also coming up”, he concluded.
Meanwhile, the absence of Prince in the match against Bechem United on Wednesday will leave Medeama coach Samuel Boadu with nuts to crack as he must map up a strategy to fill the void left by his leading scorer.
