Bayern Munich manager Hans-Dieter Flick has, effective today, Monday April 20, extend the small training groups from a maximum of 5 to 7 players per group starting with today’s session with same hygienic and safety precautionary measures which have already been in practice.
The precautionary measures put in place for the Bayern players while at training include maintaining and observing social distance of 1.5 metres among players, no duels, avoidance of handshakes, as well as showing and taking of lunch taking place at home by each player.
The German top flight, the Bundesliga, has been suspended since March 13 this year due to the disturbing coronavirus pandemic and the German Football league directed that Bundesliga players suspend training till Sunday, April 5. The Bundesliga leaders resumed training on Monday, April 6 in small groups of 5 players per group with all precautionary measures observed, but Flick has decided to extend the number of players per group from 5 to 7, starting with Monday’s session.
Bayern Munich are the current leaders of the Bundesliga table with 55 points, 4 points adrift of their close competitors Dortmund, and with eyes fixed on lifting what will be their 30th league title, the Bavarians also have the Champions League in mind.
Elsewhere in Italy, the Serie A has equally been on suspension since 9 March for same reasons, but measures have been put in place and training is likely to resume by 4th May with the league expected to resume by early June.
