Chief Executive Officer of Ashantigold SC Frederick Acheampong has resigned from his position in the wake of burning criticism from a section of the club’s supporters over what they describe as lack of concentrated attention for the club.
After two years of service to the four times champions of the Ghana Premier League, the Ghana Football Association Executive Committee member took to his official twitter account to announce on Thursday, his resignation from his position. The enterprising football administrator has tendered in his resignation letter which takes effect from Thursday, 30th April 2020.
“End of a golden road. I have tendered in my resignation as C.E.O. of @AshantiGoldSC_ effective 30th April 2020′, he announced.
Frederick Acheampong maintained however, that he learnt a lot during his two-year tenure as CEO of the Obuasi based club, but believes it is time to leave to pave way for others, citing personal reasons.
” I have grown and learnt immensely at the club but it’s time to move on for personal reasons”, he stated.
The departing official took time to express his gratefullness to the recently resigned bankroller of the club, Dr. Kwaku Frimpong (Champion) and not forgetting the fans.
” Thanks Champion, the club and supporters for the opportunity #miners “, he expressed.
Mr. Frederick Acheampong, an astute sports journalist, also functions as an Executive Committee member of the GFA and in attached to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as well, where he is mostly involved in CAF competitions match commissioning among other roles.
The supporters of the club felt the eloquent sports broadcaster has divided attention in the discharge of his mandated duties, hence the campaign for his departure.
