Following the steps of their regional rivals Ashantigold as the first Ghanaian club to implement a pay cut policy for both players and technical team, Asante Kotoko Sporting Club have reached an agreement with the players and technical staff over the implementation of 30% salary reduction.

The Porcupine Warriors, after weeks of engagements with the playing body and the technical staff, have agreed to accept 30% pay cut in a bid to ease financial burden on the club. The decision is being taken due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic which has brought global economy to its historic lowest level.

In a meeting at the club’s secretariat to finalize the agreement, the playing body was represented by five (5) senior players; goalkeeper and skipper Felix Annan, deputy skipper Emmanuel Gyamfi, centre backs Emmanuel Agyemang Badu and Wahab Adams and right back Augustine Sefa.

Former player and team manager Henry Ohene Brenya appeared for the technical bench but head coach Maxwell Konadu was not part of the final meeting held last Wednesday.

On the side the administration and Management of the club, General Manager and Personal Assistance to the Executive Chairman of the club, Nana Gyambibi Coker was in attendance as well as CEO George Amoako.

There were series of the meetings to deliberate on the issue, and the final meeting took place last Wednesday at the club’s secretariat where the agreement was reached. Our sources reliably reveal, that the resolutions from the meeting have been handed to the top brass of the club for final approval before the club will come out with official announcement.

Ashantigold Sporting Club became the first Ghanaian club to implement the pay cut policy, after reaching agreement with the playing body and technical staff to accept a 20% pay cut.
