Football will be back soon. While the Professional Football League (LFP) ended the season in France last Thursday, the German authorities decided the opposite. The government has indeed decided on Wednesday that the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 will be able to resume in mid-May. This is very good news for clubs across the Rhine. And several hours after Angela Merkel’s statements, the German Football League (DFL) issued a statement on the subject, while a meeting will be held this Thursday to reveal the exact dates of the recovery.
“Chancellor Angela Merkel and the heads of the German Länder decided today, Wednesday, that the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 seasons can resume from mid-May. In this regard, Christian Seifert, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the DFL and CEO of the DFL said: ‘Today’s decision is good news for the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2. It is accompanied by great responsibility for clubs and their employees, who must implement medical and organizational requirements in a disciplined manner. Closed games are not the ideal solution for anyone. However, in the context of the crisis which threatens the existence of certain clubs, it is the only option to preserve the leagues in their current form. Today, I would like to thank the decision-makers at the State and Federation levels for the trust they have placed in us, ”reads.
