Ashantigold midfielder Latif Anabila has opened up on his proposed move to Kumasi Asante Kotoko, providing fresh updates that has left the fans of the Kum Apem boys excited with hopes of seeing the dynamic midfield enforcer crossing carpet to the regional capital soon.
Anabila has been a top target for Asante Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu since his return to the club as head coach in December last year, and has now made headway in the pursuit of the former New Edubiase United star. Asante Kotoko submitted official offer to Ashantigold SC requesting for the player’s transfer, and negotiations between the two clubs advanced but both parties failed to reach an agreement before the second domestic transfer window got shut last month.
The two clubs, Kotoko and Ashantigold, have since had official negotiations stalled despite telephone calls between the two clubs in an effort to strike a deal. Sections of the media have reported that the two clubs have reached agreement for the transfer of Anabila to Kotoko, but Ashantigold have firmly denied such reports as the player remains part of their plans while awaiting the resumption of the premier league from the COVID-19 enforced suspension.
Latif Anabila is however, keen to join Kotoko, has confirmed he has agreed personal terms with the Porcupine Warriors waiting for the two clubs to reach an agreement to seal the deal.
“I and my managers have held advanced talks with Kotoko, I can say that for my side and Kotoko, we are done”, Anabila told ghanasportspage.com in an exclusive interview.
According to him, all personal terms have been agreed on between himself and Asante Kotoko, and he is only waiting for both clubs to round it up at the negotiation table so he can complete the switch to the Baba Yara stadium side. “An understanding has been reached between myself and Kotoko, it’s left with Ashgold and Kotoko, for now it’s left with what will come out between Ashgold and Kotoko”, he confirmed.
In an earlier interview with ghanasportspage.com, Communications Director for Ashantigold, Daniel Bioh confirmed holding talks with Kotoko for possible transfer of Anabila, but insisted that no agreement has been reached.
” “There is no truth in the reports that we’ve reached an agreement with Kotoko on the said player. Already we had received other offers for Anabila including an offer from Asante Kotoko. We had discussions with them for a number of times hoping to reach agreement before the GFA [transfer] closes. Afterwards we have had discussions for a while still we haven’t reached any agreement, I don’t know where the stories are coming from but Ashantigold and Kotoko haven’t reached any agreement”, Bioh maintained.
Having worked with coach Maxwell Konadu at the national team (Black Stars B), Latif Anabila and Maxwell have a great rapport and with the coach in serious need of the player, it is clear that the former Tema United man has his heart tilted towards the Porcupines. He is waiting to hear a positive news from his club, Ashantigold, but it is left to be seen whether Kotoko will be able to seal the deal.
