Football talent in Ghana is unmatched and this has been proven over the years especially in youth competitions and the success chocked by the nation in this aspect of the game cannot be gainsaid.
Ghana’s success in youth tournaments in football dates back from the year 1991 and 1995, when the Black Starlets (U17 male team) defeated the world to win the Ultimate. One of the born stars of Ghana’s 1995 FIFA U17 World Cup winning squad, Attakora Amaniampong, has reproduced twice a talent of his, which can be discovered in his 15-year old son, Kaden Nana Kwaku Attakora Amaniampong.
Born May 2004 in Germany, Kaden Nana Kwaku Attakora Amaniampong, simply known as Kaden Amaniampong, showed glimpses of his natural footballing talent as early as the age of five (5), where under the guidance of his father who is now a coach, he started to develop his passion for football. Kaden started his very youth career with a lower division side Bonner SC Youth where he played between July 1, 2018 to July 1, 2019. He started as a utility player, playing as a midfielder with more wing play during his days at Bonner SC Youth.
On July 1 2019, Kaden joined the U17 side of FC Köln (FC Köln U17) where has been playing till date. Currently, Kaden plays as a defender in the right side of defence. Playing in the u17-Bundesliga West (U17 League) with FC Köln U17, Kaden Amaniampong has few statistics to boast of.
In the 2019/2020 season, the promising right back has played just one minute for his side against Leverkusen u17 side in November last year, where he came on as a substitute. It is however important to note, that at just age 15, Kaden is already competing with 17-year olds and cannot be begrudged for having less playing time in his new team.
Since joining in July last year, Kaden has managed to appear in match day squad list on 4 occasions, 3 times on the bench, no starts and has come off the bench once to in a total of 21 matches. Born in Germany, Kaden currently holds a German citizenship and has already featured for the Germany U-16 side. His father Attakora Amaniampong, as introduced earlier, is world champion at the youth level with Ghana and it remains to be seen if he will, through possible efforts of the Ghana Football Association, allow his son to play for Ghana at the senior level if Ghana comes calling.
Kaden Nana Kwaku Attakora Amaniampong is a star in the making and Ghana must watch out for him in future. He currently plays most of the matches for the FC Köln u16 side and is looking forward to emulating the good steps of his father who has now graduated into coaching in the fourth division in Germany.
