Like the Bundesliga, the Liga NOS or even the Liga, the Premier League will resume in a few days after several weeks of stoppage. The clubs agreed this Thursday with the various authorities for a resumption on June 17.
If football has completely stopped in France this season, following the decision of the Professional Football League taken on April 30, it is gradually returning to our neighbors. The Bundesliga has already resumed for two weeks, and the Liga NOS (Portugal) will follow with a return to competition on June 3. In Spain, the Liga must resume its rights on June 8, certainly the first meetings on Sunday 14. Finally, in Italy, the clubs must meet this Thursday to define a date for recovery.
But then where are we on the other side of the Channel, in England? While some players were against a resumption of training, the government and health authorities have authorized the latter to return to the training grounds. The resumption of collective training with contacts had even been voted on Wednesday. So we’re starting to see more clearly in the Kingdom, and the latest revelations from the Telegraph will delight fans of the Premier League.
Manchester City vrs Arsenal shock to recover well
British media have gathered today to discuss the resumption and the Premier League is set to make a comeback on Wednesday 17 June with two late matches, an opposition between Aston Villa and Sheffield United, but also and above all an expected shock: Manchester City-Arsenal! The other matches will then follow with probably a match on Friday 19 June before the rest of the matches on the weekend.
As far as the end of the season is concerned, the Premier League would like to have it all finished by the first weekend in August, namely Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd August. Of course, all the remaining matches will be played behind closed doors and with very strict sanitary rules. But the season will indeed end in England.
