George Afriyie, former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially ruled himself out of the race for the Chief Executive Officer role at Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club.
Gorge Afriyie has been heavily linked to with the CEO job at Asante Kotoko after newly constituted 9-member Board of Directors of the Club dissolved the Gorge Amoako led management, but the Division One club Okyeman Planners President has politely ruled himself out of the race for the job.
In an official statement dated Thursday, 18th June, 2020, the astute football administrator declared himself unavailable for the position, even though he feels honoured to have been linked “to such a top position within the hierarchy of Ghana’s greatest club”.
According to George, he keeps receiving “calls from Kotoko faithfuls and followers” calling on him to take up the position of the CEO of the club, but he is currently hooked up with other commitments that have made it imposible for him to assume the role of Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer.
“In the aftermath of the GFA Presidential elections I received several calls from Kotoko faithfuls and followers urging me to consider taking up the position of the CEO of the club. I still continue to receive such calls and messages on a daily basis”.
“Kotoko is a great club and would want to serve one day. But, I want to state that I have currently taken up a commitment which would not permit me to take up the role”, the statement read.
