The Executive Board Chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak, Togbe Afede XIV has revealed the vision of the club, which is to make it the preeminent club in Africa and become a reference point for others to emulate.
He added, the objective is targeted at winning both on and off the field of play, hence, measures being put in place in this direction to ensure that this becomes a reality within the shortest possible time.
Speaking to Ghana Television (GTV Sports+) on a wide range of issues, Togbe Afede said Hearts is building a solid team that can compete with the likes of TP Mazembe, Al Ahly, Zamalek and other elite clubs on the continent.
“We are therefore putting in good administrative structures at the very top of the pinnacle and, this is also been trickled down to the technical team and playing body as we seek to assemble the best materials possible to accomplish this task”, the President of the National House of Chiefs said.
He added: “A Director of football will soon be appointed to spearhead the technical directorship of the club and, the recent recruitment of some players (local and foreign) to beef up the team also falls in this direction.”
Hearts of Oak he stated, is not a selling club and that the capital club will strive to retain its best players at all times to compete with “our African brothers”, adding that the club will prefer to sell to those outside the continent.
On the Academy Project at Pobiman, Togbe Afede said work will soon start on the start with the project aimed not only to serve Hearts of Oak but the nation as well and when completed, the facility would also be made available to visiting clubs and national sides to Ghana to train on.
He therefore appealed to all Phobians to bring on board their positive ideas and contributions for the forward march of the club as “we strategize to place make it a standard marker” on the continent.
