Tuesday, August 4, 2020 was deemed a crucial day for the future of Ghana football as stakeholders of the game keenly awaited the release of Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) ruling on the case between Wilfred Osei Kwaku ‘Palmer’ and the GFA, but everyone was disappointed as the world’s sports court failed to honour its promise of publishing the ruling on the said date.
The generated lots of speculations withing the media landscape, with many claiming that the ruling had been given to the lawyers of Palmer but they have, for reasons unknown, kept it to themselves.
In quick response, the Tema Youth Football club President and his team have issued official statement, denying receipt of any ruling from CAS. In the statement, Team Palmer hinted on worry over the delay of the ruling, but remains hopeful that the ruling will be released “in due course”.
“Contrary to reports suggesting our lawyers have received the much anticipated ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS). We wish to establish the fact that our lawyers are yet to receive the ruling from CAS”, the statement stated.
The statement went on to stress, that the sports court has not given any reasons for the delay of the ruling, but Team Palmer remains hopeful of its eventual arrival.
“CAS has not given any reason for the delay, but we are hopeful that in due course the ruling will be sent to all parties concerned”, they hoped.
