Mr George Kuntu Blankson, seasoned sports journalist and host of the Super Morning sports show on West Gold Radio, Takoradi, has been surprised with a special gift from a loyal listener of his sports programs for his excellence in sports broadcast in the past decade, and his innovative means of promoting football on local level.
Overwhelmed by the impact of the Kuntu Blankson brand on the lives of his listeners in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis, Mr John Kinsford Essien, a staff of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), on Monday presented a high quality Bonwire woven Kente cloth to Mr Kuntu Blankson as a way of showing his appreciation to him for his great contribution to the development of football in the metropolis, especially at the juvenile level.
Explaining his motivation to do this special presentation, Mr Essien said he believes the Shama District Football Association Chairman, who, in addition to his broadcasting profession, functions as founder of lower division club Uniocorn FC has lots of impact on the lives of many, and a word of blessing from Kuntu to him can bring lots of changes to his life.
During their morning sports program on Monday August 17, Mr Kingsford Essien, accompanied by his friend Joshua, called on the sports crew to make the presentation in surprise of the Unicorn FC President. He explained the reasons behind his inspiration to West Gold Radio.
According to Essien, he was inspired by the fact that, Mr Kuntu Blankson usually blesses people any time he gets on air, and he believes that those pronouncements have huge positive impact on those to whom those words are directed. To him, he believes that after this wonderful presentation, any positive words that shall come from the mouth of Mr Blankson to him will sure make him a blessed soul.
“Of course the Bible says you should desire to give more than to receive. If we go into the Bible in Genesis, we see that it says after God created the world, darkness was upon the face of the earth until God opened his moth to declare that there should be light before there came light, so it means there is power in the words man utters. The same Bible also teaches us that God created man in his own image, so if God created us in his image then that means we humans are also God in a way so whatever we declare with our mouth should come to pass. So when I hear you blessing people (on air) I see that in fact, if I also do something and you bless me I will also prosper”, Essien explained.
He urged Kuntu, the entire sports crew of West God Radio to keep the good work of promoting the local game and help develop the game in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis.
