Detained in Paraguay for five months now, Ronaldinho (40 years) is again a free man. At the hearing on Monday, the judge in charge of his case announced the news. The brother of the former Ballon d’Or winner, Roberto de Assis Moreira, is also released.
The two men, who had been incarcerated since 6 March for using false documents, had spent two weeks in prison before being placed under house arrest in a luxury hotel in Asuncion, the Paraguayan capital, for a deposit of $1.6 million (1.35 million euros). The Crown also requested payment of a fine of $90,000 (76,000 euros) for “damage to society”.
