Ghana’s sole representative for the 2020/2021 CAF Confederations Cup Ashantigold SC have confirmed the signing of eight (8) new players to augment the current squad as the team takes shape for the continental assignment.
The Obuasi based four times Ghana Premier League winners have confirmed their participation to the Ghana Football Association, and are now into the transfer market to make prominent signings for their Confederation Cup campaign.
The Miners have completed eight signings so far after releasing other players such as Eric Donkor, James Akaminko, Emmanuel Osei Baffour, Benedict Wobenu, defender Musah Mohammed as well as midfielders Stephen Owusu Banahene and Randolf Akwasi Nti. The club also failed to renew the contract of James Akaminko.
In an interactions with ghanasportspage.com, Communications Manager for the club, Eric Karikari confirmed the club has completed eight signings with other negotiations still ongoing.
“We’ve made additions, some of them are confirmed and talks are still ongoing with others”, Karikari confirmed. “We are done with Stephen Bentsil (Ebusua Dwarfs), Michael Ennu (Liberty Professionals), Yaw Annor (Bechem United FC) is around, we have Nathaniel Asamoah (free agent), Hans Kwofie (free agent), Matthew Agama (GMC Academy), Kwame Moses (Bechem United FC) as well as former Medeama SC player Dacosta Boadu”, he outlined.
The club is still in talks with other players, notable among them is Aduana Stars star striker Yahaya Mohammed, who has reached personal terms agreement with the Miners pending finalization. Ashangtigold has targeted the group stage as the least expectation in the upcoming Confederation Cup campaign.
