Nana Akua Amankwaa Quaye, Africa Beach Soccer Women’s Development Director, says various leaders in our sports departments should pay attention to other sporting activities in Ghana especially Beach soccer.
Nana Akua also stressed that the GFA, the Sports Ministry, Boxing Authorities, Beach soccer Authorities should come to together to develop other sporting activities other than football. She pointed out that even with the football, the attention has only been on the Black Stars. “Ghana premier league players, other national teams such as U-17, U-20 and women football Players are all crying for help”, she added.
“See, I got the opportunity to watch beach soccer, wow, it’s really nicer than football, very interesting too. Imagine, you are playing football in the sand. It’s really fun, I think we should pay attention to other sports disciplines”, she told ghanasportspage.com. She also revealed that our women’s team first participated in the world and not the men’s football team, and so couldn’t understand why the focus has always been the Black Stars.
She suggested that the government should try as much as possible to amply and equitably support all sporting disciplines in Ghana. “When you go to South Africa, they have a Rugby team and of course a beach soccer team and they pay attention to every sporting activity, so if Ghana is really serious to do sports and become happy then we have to develop a lot of sports disciplines in Ghana”, she explained.
She also told African best sports website” www.ghanasportspage.com” that, Ghanaians have neglected other sports and only focusing on football but even not football, it’s only black Stars we take care of. Ghana premier league players, women’s football players and other national teams players such as U-17, U-20 etc are all crying. So I think as a country we should put proper structures in place to develop other sports disciplines especially the beach soccer”, she lament
