President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kurt. E. S. Okraku has extended his doleful condolences to the families of the deceased juvenile footballers who lost their lives in an accident that occurred on the Kumasi-Offinso road on Saturday.
A total of eight (8) juvenile footballers of Africa Vision Soccer Academy were confirmed dead in the accident which occurred on the Offinso River on Saturday afternoon.
In an earnest wait for the return of contact sports, football especially since its suspension in March due to the covid-19 pandemic, a news of this nature is certainly not palatable to the entire football community in the country, and the FA boss is no exception of persons left brokenhearted by the unfortunate incident.
In a post on his official Facebook page, the FA President sent his deepest condolences to the families of the dead, calling on all to support them in these difficult moments.
“I have received with a heavy heart the death of 6 juvenile players (African Vision FC) today in Offinso in the Ashanti Region. In these trying times, we stand shoulder to shoulder with all the bereaved families, those injured and those going through psychological stress..It is well…Lets all be supportive”, he wrote.
Kurt further assured that some members of the Executive Council of the GFA and other personalities of the FA have been delegated to console the families of the dead and the injured.
“In the morning ,an FA contingent made up of Chairman Osei Tutu (Kotoro) Exco members, Fred Achie , Madam Habiba Attah and NJC member Chairman Kamarat will visit the injured and console bereaved families”, he assured.
