Ghana football stopped in March 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak. God been so good, his excellency the president of the republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, lifted the ban on football. By this the GFA determined that football can now resume fully on 30th October, 2020.
Ghana premier league giants Accra Hearts of Oak board member, Alhaji Akambi says, many people have misinterpreted the statement the president made that football will resume on 30th October in Ghana.
He said that statement does not simply that football activities can start now before the stated date. He feels people have interpreted that statement variedly, some arguing to start training before that day. He’s said that until the GFA clarifies that statement as regarding when teams can gather and even train, Hearts of Oak will not start training.
Speaking to ghanasportpage.com he touted that the president’s statement was that football should start on October 30 and not training starting on that stated date.
“Football people should not argue out this statement but wait for the GFA to come out more clearer”, he said.
He concluded that Hearts of Oak will not resume training until such time when the GFA has clarified timelines for football which includes commencement of training for the pending football season.
Board member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Alhaji Akambi, in an interview with the best African sports site, ghanasportspage.com said that Hearts of Oak is fully ready to welcome the new season. “We have paid all our players their salaries and they are there doing nothing so the players are happy and can be on the field anytime any day”, he said.
He emphasized that if Hearts of Oak wasn’t ready for the season, they wouldn’t have been spending money on their players. Alhaji Akambi told ghanasportspage.com that if any club in Ghana says they’re not ready, then they’re not a serious club. “Everybody is ready” he concluded.
