Asante Kotoko winger Mathew Kelvin Andoh is set hold crucial meeting with club CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah to settle issues on his future with the club, ghanasportspage.com can report.
The versatile attacking player has has been told he is not in the plans of coach Maxwell Konadu going into the the 2020/2021 football season, and should agree to leave the club on mutual consent. Kelvin, just like already gone striker Richard Arthur, was handed a release letter purported to be a mutual termination of his contract with the club, but the former Wa All Stars (now Legon Cities) super star refused.
Andoh joined Asante Kotoko in July 2019 on a three years deal, binding him to the club till 2022. After just a season out of his three years contract with Asante Kotoko, the club informed him he is now surplus to requirement and has been released.
Our findings indicate, that the club did not initially invite the player for any talks concerning his future, but he was called and handed a contract termination letter to sign of which he declined. The player believes he has a contract with Asante Kotoko which still makes him a player of the club. Kelvin is demanding that the club pays him off for the remainder of his two years contract before he signs the termination letter and leave on mutual grounds, a demand which Kotoko is reportedly unwilling to fulfill.
Players of the Asante Kotoko went through preseason medical screening which included tests for covid-19 on Tuesday, but Kelvin Andoh was excluded from the said exercise.
Club CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah is due back to Kumasi from Accra on Wednesday, and has scheduled to meet Kelvin Andoh to discuss his contract termination issues, ghanasportspage.com has learnt. Asante Kotoko players are set to begin official training at the club’s training grounds on Wednesday afternoon and Kelvin Andoh is not included in the squad. Reports on Wednesday have it that Andoh and one other Kotoko player, Douglas Owusu Ansah have reported the club to the Professional Football Association of Ghana (PFAG) over the issue, but this remains a rumour.
