Arsenal are busy working things out to sign Ghanaian international Thomas Partey from Athletico Madrid on deadline day.
Partey has been a number one target for Mikel Arteta in the ongoing transfer window, but the English side have been reluctant in paying his release clause of £45m. The La liga giants remain adamant on negotiations but the Gunners have no choice than to couph up the amount if they want to add Partey to the squad before the window shuts by 11:59pm today.
With hours to go, ghanasportspage.com has learnt the Gunners have officially communicated to La liga that they are ready to pay the release clause of Partey, and that should be expected in the next coming hours.
Arsenal are hoping to free up wages and space in the squad by releasing players.
Lucas Torreira is in Madrid finalising a loan move to Atletico, while Matteo Guendouzi is close to a loan move to Hertha Berlin. The departure of these players obviously paves the way for the English Premier League side meet the release clause of Partey which Athletico aren to ready to settle for anything less.
Baring any misfortunes, Arsenal will pay Partey’s release clause in the coming hours and the Ghanaian midfielder will join his national teammate Crystal Palace star Jordan Ayew in the English top flight.
