Coach CK Akonnor and his charges have had their first training session ahead of their friendly games against Mali and Asian side Qatar.
The Black Stars will play against the Eagles of Mali on Friday, October 9, before taking on Qatar three days later, all in the city of Antalya, Turkey. Ghana, four times winners of the Africa Cup of Nations, maintains the objective of lifting the continent’s flagship trophy again for the first time since 1982 in the next edition to be hosted by Cameroon.
Black Stars Head Coach C.K Akonnor and assistant David Duncan took charge of their first training session on Tuesday, October 06, in Antalya, Turkey ahead the friendly games against Mali and Qatar. The two games forms part of Ghana’s preparations ahead of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualification games in November against Sudan.
Coach CK Akonnor and his technical team will use these two matches as preparatory games ahead of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers against Sudan, and the journey officially starts today. Akonnor, whose debut as the head coach of the senior national team delayed due to the coronaviurs pandemic, looks forward to do so starting with the friendlies against Mali and Qatar.
Black Stars currently sit at the summit of the 2021 AFCON qualifying table with 6 points, having won their first two matches against South Africa and São Tomé and Príncipe under the then coach James Kwasi Appiah with CK Akonnor then as assistant.
