The Executive Council (EXCO) of the Volta Regional Football Association at its meeting on Thursday 8th October 2020 confirmed the appointment of Mama Agbalenyo I as Ambassador for Women Football in the Volta Regions
.Exco expressed their gratitude to Mama for accepting the honor and willingness to support the FA drive its vision forward.
This appointment complements the vision of the Volta FA Chairman Daniel Agbogah working to see the Volta region become a hub of football talents and female football is a key focus
.Mama Agbalenyo I in her private life known as Sylvia Morrison is a Jamaican born. She migrated with her family to Canada where she lived for 30 years.
Sylvia Morrison is a humanitarian, founder and director of Links Across Borders, a nonprofit organization that undertakes development projects in education in rural communities in Ghana, West Africa.
Due to Morrison’s love for Africa and commitment to contribute her expertise to the development of the underprivileged society, she further migrates to live in Ghana and has been enstooled development Queen Mother of Kpedze Todze in the Volta Region.
Sylvia engaged in human rights education and solidarity work with peacemaker communities in Colombia, Israel/Palestine, Iraq, UK, India, Uganda, Canada, and the USA. She has taught and served extensively in the area of gender-based violence; as a counselor/advocate for survivors of trauma, and sexual assaults.
She has witnessed the indomitable power of the human spirit to rise towards a higher calling.
As an empowerment specialist, transformational counselor, and Life Mastery Consultant, Sylvia teaches transformational principles through coaching programs, keynotes, workshops, and retreats internationally. She guides individuals, and groups to discover the dream in their hearts, connect with their higher self to take courageous actions that ignite their fire to stand confidently in their light.
Sylvia who has already met with the Women Football Committee and some of the women clubs in the region is determined to use such outstanding qualities to inspire, transform, and develop young women in the Volta Region through Football.
