Ghana coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor has named his starting XI for Tuesday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan, with FC St. Gallen’s stopper Lawrence Ati Zigi in post in place of suspended Richard Ofori.
Ati Zigi warmed the bench for the entire duration of the first leg encounter between the two sides at the Cape Coast sports stadium last Thursday, but has been handed a starting role against the Falcons in Omdurman ahead World Cup star Fatawu Dauda, who earned a late call up into the squad to fill the void of Ofori who is suspended from the game on Tuesday.
Alexander Djiku will start at the right side of the defence, while Chelsea’s Abdul Baba Rahman is deployed at the left side of the defence. Experienced John Boye will partner Nicholas Opoku in the heart of defence to complete the back four.
Ghana has kept a 100% record in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers so far, winning all three games they’ve played so far and leads group C with 9 points, followed by South Africa also with 9 points in 4 games.
Afriyie Acquah, Mubarak Wakaso, Tariq Fosu and Jeffrey Schlupp complete the midfield with Caleb Ekubah and Jordan Ayew joining efforts to stage a course in attack.
The match has been scheduled to kick off at 13:00GMT which will be 15:00GMT in Sudan.
