Ghana’s lone Champions League representative Asante Kotoko are currently in Mauritania preparing to play against FC Nouadhibou in the preliminary round of the competition and are set for their second training session this evening at the match venue.
Asante Kotoko left the shores of Ghana for Mauritania on Wednesday, November 25, with initial information that the match had been scheduled for Friday, November 27. The Ghanaian giants left their homeland to honour the match, only for their opponents to move the match date to Sunday, November the 29th. The late change meant Asante Kotoko will now spend more days away from home than initially planned, a situation that seems to have affected that club’s training arrangements negatively.
The team of 21 players along with club officials of the Porcupine Warriors arrived in Mauritania on Wednesday evening, and held a light shake off on Thursday morning before following it up with intensive session in the evening.
As part of the preparations, Asante Kokoko who are currently based in the city of Nouakchott where the match will be played, will hold their first training at the match venue on Friday evening ahead of the match on Sunday. The training has been slated to take off at 16:00GMT (4PM local time).
“The team will today train at 4pm at Stade Cheikha Boidiya ( Match Venue ) in Nouakchott”, Asante Kotoko confirmed on Twitter.
