Exclusive: Asante Kotoko diasporan Circles member pledges GHC10,500 cash bonus for players ahead of FC Nouadhibou clash

A die hard fan and moneyed diasporan Circles Member of Asante Kotoko, Emmanuel Kwaw has pledged a whooping GHC10,500.00 for the 21 players selected for their Champions League match against FC Nouadhibou on Sunday on a condition of commanding victory for the Ghanaian side.

Mr. Emmanuel Kwaw is a member of the Asante Kotoko supporters group, known as Circles, the branch in China. He is an active member of Circle 0086 in China and has offered to pay a sum of GHC500.00 to each of the 21 players in camp for the game, giving a total of GHC10,500, an equivalence of 1,979 USD according to the current exchange rate.

Kwaw, a former Secretary to Asante Kotoko Circle 195, Enchi, has been a supporter of the club for years and is willing to do all it takes to motivate the team to record an emphatic win over their Mauritanian counterparts on Sunday.

However, the offer comes with seeming herculean condition. According to him, he is ready to deliver his promise if the players score three unanswered goals (0-3) against FC Nouadhibou.

“I have [Asante] Kotoko at heart, so I, I’m a member of Circle 0086 [in China], I’m a registered member with my ID card as I speak and everyone knows I’m a member, residing in China right now”, Emmanuel Kwaw noted in an exclusive interview with ghanasportspage.com.

“I will not talk for long, I want to make a promise to the entire 21 players in the camp of Asante Kotoko, I want to give each them GHC500.00 each. Tell the officials of [Asante] Kotoko, the Kotoko players and the whole country Ghana, that I, Emmanuel Kwaw, I said if Kotoko are able to score three unanswered goals (0-3 against FC Nouadhibou) I am giving the entire 21 players GHC500 each, I am serious”, he pledged.

Asante Kotoko are playing away from home and scoring three goals unanswered seems a difficult task. Asked why not reducing the tally to at least a 0-1 or 0-2 win for Kotoko to merit his pledge, Kwaw explained that his major concern is for the team to record a convincing victory that reflects the greatness of the club. To him, a 1-0 win is a win but that sounds too mean for the class of his darling club, and he wants the goals to flow as a mark of supremacy over opponents.

“Your platform (ghanasportspage.com) is not a mean one and I cannot make statements without grounds. I am telling you once again that I, Emmanuel Kwaw I said if Kotoko is able to score three unanswered goals, I Emmanuel Kwaw, popularly known by everyone here in China as Prof. Kwaw, I will give everyone GHC500 physical cash”, he reiterated.

“You know we’ve followed Kotoko for long and as we are here in China we desire for goals, I could have said 1-0 or 2-0 but we are hungry for the goals. Just as Kotoko is able to beat the likes of Hearts of Oak and other clubs for us to jubilate to the fullest, I want Kotoko to as well to score 3 goals. And this will not be the only promise I will make, if Kotoko is able to score these 3 goals, from now on-wards you will see the kind of promises I will make and deliver to them”, he added.

Asante Kotoko will begin their 2020/2021 CAF Champions League campaign against FC Nouadhibou of Mauritania at the Stade Cheikha Bodiya , Nouakchott on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at 16:00 GMT.
