Yahaya Mohammed and Prince Acquah scored for Aduana Stars to hand Accra Hearts of Oak their second defeat in the ongoing Ghana Premier League in their match day one outstanding league match in Dormaa on Wednesday.
The Phobians traveled to Dormaa with high optimism of making it two wins in a row, after beating Dreams FC by emphatic 3-0 scoreline in Accra in their last league game. However, coach Kosta Papic’s side failed this time as coach Paa Kwasi Fabin’s “Ogya Boys” fanned the fire to lower them to a 2-0 defeat at the Nana Agyemang Badu II Park on Wednesday.
The first half of the game started with high intensity as both sides pressed for the opener. The home side were much a determined side to redeem their image, coming from a 1-1 home drawn game against Eleven Wonders in their previous encounter. A cross sent into the goal area of Hearts of Oak found Yahaya Mohammed who headed it straight into Richard Atta’s net in the 42nd minute to register his third goal of the 2020/2021 league season.
Hearts of Oak failed to create scoring chances as the home side kept their momentum. The first half ended 1-0 in favour of Aduana Stars to keep themselves in high spirit.
After the recess, it took just two minutes for the Dormaa based side to register their second goal of the game, this time with thunderbolt strike from former Heart of Lions, Asante Kotoko midfielder Prince Acquah to make it 2-0. Prince Acquah first goal of the season and Aduana Stars’ second was enough to win the day for Paa Kwasi Fabin’s side as the Phobians are sent back to the capital with empty hands.
It was the 18th premier league match between the two sides, with Aduana Stars recording their 4th win over Hearts of Oak to push the statistics to 4 wins, 9 draws and 5 defeats in the hands of the Phobians.
