Ghana Premier League (GPL) side Medeama Sporting Club have called their on-loan striker Prince Opoku Agyemang back to the club from his loan spell with Cape Town City FC acccording to multiple reports in the local media.
Opoku Agyemang, after joining Medeama SC from New Edubiase United on a 3-year contract in December 2019, and had a good start to the 2019/2020 GPL season before its eventual cancellation due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in Ghana. He made his GPL debut for the Tarkwa based club where he scored impressive 11 goals in 14 matches for the club.
The player joined South African top flight side Cape Town City FC on an initial one season loan deal in October 2020, barely a month to the start of the 2020/2021 GPL season.
Despite being with the South African side for just four months into his loan spell, it has been widely reported on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, that Prince Opoku Agyemang has been called by Medeama to revert to the club, as part of the exercising of a clause believed to have been inserted into his loan deal.
Both Medeama and Cape Town City FC are yet to officially comment on the situation, but ghanasportspage.com has made advances in unveiling what could be an authentication of the surging rumours.
In a brief response an enquiry by ghanasportspage.com whether or not Medeama have taken such a decision, Communications Director of the club, Patrick Akoto refused to concfirm nor deny the reports, but made an open statement.
“The club will issue a statement so wait”, Akotoko told ghanasportspage.com. Asked of how soon such a statement should be expected, he declined to confirm, saying “I can’t tell for now”.
Deducing from Akotoko’s comments, it may not be completely inaccurate to smell an iota of truth from the circulating reports, but patience is required as we await Medeama’s statement on the matter.
