Accra Hearts of Oak former midfielder Eric Nyarko has offered to help the club’s Youth Team, the Auroras to identify and develop players who can be be promoted into the first team should the club offer him the opportunity.

Nyarko was integral part of the the Hearts of Oak set up that concurred Africa in 2004 to win the maiden edition of the CAF Confederation Cup competition after beating their ever rivals Asante Kotoko on penalties in the final at the Baba Yara sports stadium.

The sensational central midfielder traveled abroad after leaving Hearts of Oak, returned later to play for Medeama SC, Aduana Stars, and Okwahu United. He later moved to Egypt to continue his career but his expectations were not met and returned home in 2018 and has since been without a club. As he prepares to hang his boots officially, Nyarko has revealed his plans to undertake a coaching course to begin a managerial career in football, but wishes to start from Hearts of Oak’s Youth side with his experience gained from playing even before he earns a coaching certificate.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with ghanasportspage.com, Nyarko discloses his readiness to work for the Phobians, explaining his inner qualities.

“Well if you ask me whether I’m ready (to coach Auroras), fine, though I don’t have the coaching licence now but I’m in the process of studying online and praying that they will open the way for the coaching course so I can also go and explore”, Eric Nyarko told ghanasportspage.com.

According to him, despite not having the coaching licence yet, he has played the game both locally and abroad and has gained enough experience that has given him an eye for spotting talented players.

“I have the experience both in Ghana football and outside, I have played abroad for some time so I have the experience. Trust me, if I see a good player I know, I have good eye for who can make a good player. Though I don’t have the licence for now and I’m working on it but I have the experience which I can use it to help”, he stressed.

Nyarko was involved in 9 games during Hearts of Oak’s 14 matches in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup in 2004. He played in 3 of the 6 CAF Champions League qualifying games and 6 of the club’s 8 games in the CAF Confederation Cup without ever being subbed.
