The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has fixed February 19, 2021 and March 15, 2021 for the Extra Ordinary Congress and Elective Congress respectively.

At its executive board meeting on Thursday, February 4, 2021, members agreed on the respective dates for a roadmap to be laid towards the next Elective Congress.

The General Secretaryof the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Charles Osei Asibey has finally declared his readiness to contest the Presidency seat of the Ghana Olympic Commitee to seek election during when the Association goes to the polls.

In an interview with the veteran sportsman, Mr. Osei Asibey on whether he will be contesting, he indicated that “Once the roadmap is approved by Congress, you cannot rule me out”, he told ghanasportspage.com

The founder and President of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation did not only confirm his decision to contest for the seat but also sized the opportunity to urge the incumbent to stick to the rules laid down for the election, and not to take undue advantage of incumbency.

“I will outline my vision when congress approves the road map but I pray the incumbent to respect election rules and not take advantage of incumbency”, he cautioned.

He therefore advised all sportsmen and women in the various federations to observe all the covid-19 protocols to help fight the pandemic and prevent further spread.
