As the gunners were eagerly looking forward to bounce back from their ignominious midweek defeat to Nuno Espirito Santo’s wolves ahead of their lunchtime clash against Aston Villa.
Unfortunately, Arsenal’s resurgence took a sizable knock after losing to wolves in midweek.
However, Mikel Arteta’s side was dealt a further blow in their pursuit to return to winning ways after their €50m signing midfielder Thomas Partey painfully came off in the 74th minute through a suspected hamstring injury.
The Ghanaian star has endured a stop-start season since he joined Arsenal from Athletico Madrid.
Partey missed 10 games earlier in the Premier League campaign with a hip injury and really hoped that he doesn’t face another lengthy absence.
Partey had started to completely establish himself in the Arsenal team forming a solid partnership with Granit Xhaka at the base of the midfield.
Partey has undoubtedly become a key component in Arteta’s plans but unfortunately, injuries have been ravaging his career at Arsenal. The gunners will only have to hope for a piece of positive news when Partey is assessed by the medical team.
