The latest and shortest serving successful boxing promotional and managerial organisation owned by Ghana’s Blacks Stars former skipper Asamoah Gyan called Baby Jet Promotion jumped into the Ghana boxing fraternity with the sole aim of promoting Ghanaian boxers to help win more world title for Ghana boxing. Upon that, in 2018 the boxing consortium entered into a contract with the former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Lightweight Champion Mr. Emmanuel Tagoe popularly known as “Game Boy” on a three-years deal to be his manager and official promoter.
During this period the boxing consortium has helped the boxer to win all his bouts including a recent and first international bout against Mason Menard’s on 27th Nov 2020, in Florida, United States, where he won by majority decision in the 10th round.
This contract which was expected to end in November this year and was perceived to be a green light to “Game Boy” and Ghanaian boxers at large has hit the rock after the contract was terminated prematurely by both parties. The contract termination letter from the office of the Baby Jet Promotions signed by the President and Manager Asamoah Gyan reads;
Dear Mr. Emmanuel Tagoe,
ABROGATION AND RELEASE OF PROMOTER-MANAGERBOXER AGREEMENT
The above named Promotional and managerial outfit acting per its,PRESIDENT Mr. Asamoah Gyan wishes to inform YOU, the Ghana Boxing Authority and all stake holders that the existing Promoter-Manager Boxer agreement between me Mr. Asamoah Gyan and you Mr. Emmanuel Tagoe is TERMINATED with immediate effect.
The agreement which supposed to run from October, 2018 to November, 2021, has been terminated and we wish to inform you that we have release you to continue your professional boxing career anywhere of your choice.
This takes effect immediately. Whilst thanking you for your working relationship with us during the times past, we also wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors and pray that your next promoter-manager will have for you the kind of care and love we had for you. Thanks in anticipation.
