National Lightweight Champion, Michael ‘Bullet’ Ansah, managed to discipline his long time rival Sheriff ‘One Time’ Quaye in their Independence Day trilogy clash at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra on Saturday night. The bout which was organised by the award winning boxing promoter Mr. Alex Ntiamoah of Box Office Sports Promotions in collaboration with Ace Power Promotions really climax the celebration of Ghana’s Independence day.
This bout was scheduled to come on last year but couldn’t see the light of the day due to COVID-19 pandemic after Ansah lost a controversial split points decision to Quaye in 2018 before coming back to earn a knockout win in a rematch the following year. Sheriff Quaye who believed he has more to offer for his fans called for a rematch which was agreed by “One Bullet” and dubbed “The Trilogy”.
Prior to the bout the outspoken and entertaining boxer “Bullet” said “I will beat him and he knows it,” Ansah also questioned : “What does he have in the ring that can trouble me? I don’t see anything from him that will shake me in the ring.”
He also added;“I have fought all the tough lightweights in the country and Sheriff Quaye is not one of them. I want to urge the supporters to come early because I don’t see the fight going past five rounds.”
Michael ‘Bullet’ Ansah backed his voice with actions as he stopped rival, Sheriff ‘One Time’ Quaye with two vicious left hooks in round 5 as promised to emerge winner of their Trilogy at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra after the later couldn’t survive the count by the referee.
