Ghana’s glovesman Ibrahim Danlad has been voted the best goalkeeper of the just ended Total 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations tournament hosted in Mauritania.
The Asante Kotoko shot stopper produced a high level of excellence in the posts for Ghana throughout the tournament. His classic exploits saved Ghana on numerous occasions from conceding goals which would have thrown the dream of winning the 4th AFCON title into jeopardy.
Danlad made his heroics count in the quarter final stage during the penalty shootouts between Ghana and Cameroon, where he made crucial saves to help Ghana produce a 4-2 victory on penalties after both sides drew goalless 90 minutes to set up a clash with Uganda in the final.
The 19-year old talented goalie once again proved insurmountable in the posts, propelling Ghana to a vital 1-0 triumph over Gambia in the semifinals. His outstanding performance was cemented when the tournament climaxed on Saturday, with his team Ghana beating Uganda by a 2-0 commanding victory to lift Ghana’s 4th title at the U-20 level.
In 6 games, Danlad kept a total of 4 clean sheets and allowed 3 goals in the tournament.
