Goalkeeper of Ghana’s senior women’s national team the Black Queens Fafali Dumahesi has refuted claims that female footballers in Ghana detest marriage.
According to the Black Queens’ shots stopper, a good number of female footballers are in serious relationships with the opposite sex with some even courting.
Women’s place in football is now firmly established and increasingly respected.
But unlike the men’s game, female footballers face a lot of stereotypes and one of them is the claim that they are misogynists and hates marriage.
Fafali Dumahesi told Ghanasportspage.com the claims were false as female footballers are not only attractive to men but also like getting married.
“I know so many ladies in my team who are seriously into guys and are even considering getting married,” disclosed the Police Ladies FC goalkeeper, who recently got married to his longtime boyfriend.
“Marriage needs a lot of planning so just like any young lady, the female players also need time to plan towards it hence the delay in our marriages that does not mean that we detest marriage.”She exclusively told ghanasportspage.com
Fafali Dumahesi cautioned young female players not to pay attention to the perception.
“Let no player be discouraged with the fact that female players do not attract men and abhor marriage. The assertion is not true.” She concluded.
