Bofoakwa Tano won the bragging rights on Sunday after beating city rivals B.A United 3-0 on match day 17 of the National Division One League at the Sunyani Coronation Park on Sunday.
Francis Mawuli gave Bofoakwa the lead; Kwesi Sefah added the second goal before Alfred Korankye’s own goal settled the scores for Bofoakwa at the dreaded Coronation Park.
They held on to those three first half goals to win the local derby – to keep their title aspirations intact. The Sunyani side have now amassed 34 points after 17 Division one games – trailing leaders Real Tamale United by two points.
In Tamale, Real Tamale United beat Kintampo FC 4-2 at the Aliu Mahama stadium. Abubakar Nawas scored a brace as Baba Kushibo and Ronald Frimpong added to the tally to give RTU four goals before Kasim Sulley and Abdullai Zuberu reduced the deficit for the visitors.
Elsewhere in Berekum, Arsenal came from behind to draw 1-1 with Steadfast FC. Abdul Fatawu Issahaku drew the first blood for Steadfast before Kofi Ansu Patrick leveled things up for Berekum Arsenal in the second half.
