According to Youtube star Jake Paul, his handlers have begun discussions for a potential boxing match with cruiserweight prospect Tommy Fury, who is the younger brother of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
Earlier this month, Paul picked up the third win of his pro career – when he stopped MMA veteran Ben Askren in the first round.
Fury, who also has a good following on social media, has five wins as a pro with four of them by knockout.
If a fight with Fury comes together, he would become the first “boxer” that Paul has ever faced in the ring.
Paul’s first two stoppage wins came against Youtube rival AnEsonGib and NBA veteran Nate Robinson.
He believes a fight with Fury would be a major event – due to their respective followings.
“I think it’d be a massive fight,” Paul told ESPN. “He’s fought scrubs to make himself look good.
“People will say the same about me, but I’ve fought guys with winning records like Ben Askren and AnEsonGib.
“Our teams are talking and trying to figure something out.”
Fury, like his older brother, is promoted by Frank Warren.
Warren has no problem making the fight a reality. He says the ball is now in Paul’s court to make the deal happen.
The veteran promoter would allow Triller to have the worldwide pay-per-view rights, while BT Sport receives the pay-per-view rights in the UK.
“Actions speak louder than words,” Warren told iFL TV. “I know Jake has this following on YouTube and he says all the right things, but do it. We want to make the fight, it’s really easy; he takes 50%, Tommy takes 50%. Make the fight, let’s get it done.
