Samuel Boadu, head coach of Hearts of Oak has given credit to Karela United following their stalemate to the side on Sunday afternoon.
Hearts of Oak played as a guest to the Anyinase-based club yesterday in a game that served as a matchday 21 fixture of the Ghana Premier League season.
Hearts of Oak were held to a 1-1 draw by Karela United at Crosby Awuah Memorial Park on Sunday.
The Accra based giants had to come from behind to pick a late point against a well organized Karela side.
Maxwell Boakye capitalized on a defensive miscommunication in Hearts’ rear guard to put the home team ahead from close range in the 71st minute.
However, Kwadwo Obeng saved the visitors with a beautiful header from Salifu’s corner kick to snatch a point in the 85th minute.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Hearts of Oak gaffer Samuel Boadu expressed his disappointment with the results while indicating that it was a very tough match.
“It was a difficult match because Karela played very well and that made it very difficult for us to penetrate,” coach Samuel Boadu shared.
“I’m not happy we shared points at away. Our aim was to win the match to boost our standing on the league table”
“The little I can say is that we have not been clinical in front of goal. The striking ability has been our main problem this season”
“Our mentality was to win against Karela United but things did not go as expected. Our opponents strategy worked to perfection for them” he said.
Hearts of Oak sit 3rd position with 34 points after twenty-one matches.
