Asante Kotoko is running out of time to avoid Emmanuel Gyamfi leaving on a free transfer in twenty-nine days if the club fails a last-minute contract renewal bid, Ghanasportspage.com (@GSP1_1) can exclusively reveal.
The winger is happy in Kumasi and willing to sign a new deal but the club is yet to table an offer. Gyamfi, 26, has won 5 major honors with the Kumasi-based club since his arrival in 2016.
The Ex-Wa All Stars speedster won the FA cup with Asante Kotoko in 2017 and was a key member of the Kotoko’s squad that placed third in the 2016 Ghana league clubs Association competition by emerging as the top scorer with four goals. Ghanasportspage.com reports further confirm the lack of management’s attempt to contract renewal. And should things progress as reported, Kotoko could lose a key member of their squad at the end of the month
He was also the top scorer for Kotoko’s campaign in the CAF Confederations cup in 2018. Since then, Gyamfi has at his disposal, the Normalisation Committee’s tournament, Otumfuor’s Cup, and the President Cup.
Should things progress as reported, Gyamfi will be looking to reignite his career elsewhere with two local rival clubs monitoring the player’s situation carefully.
There are at least two other clubs in Asia showing interest in the player. His performances this season for Kotoko have earned him extensive praise as arguably one of the best performing players in the squad.
His leadership on and off the field was a key factor as Kotoko emerged victorious in a season-changing 2-0 win over Karela United at Anyinase that contributed immensely to Kotoko’s position on the league summit.
Scoring his first goal this season in a 2-1 defeat to Medeama, the winger continued his season’s resurgence with a man-of-the-match performance in a 1-0 victory over Legon Cities last Saturday.
